Arlene J. Mizejewski, age 76, of Ottawa Lake, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at her home. She was born on March 25, 1937 to Walter and Martha (Olejownik) Sroczynski in Toledo. Arlene graduated from DeVilbiss High School and attended the University of Toledo for accounting and business courses. She married Alfred "Al" Mizejewski on July 26, 1958 in Toledo and they shared 55 wonderful years together.
Arlene worked at Toledo Trust for 24 years and also for Central Catholic High School while her daughter attended. Many will remember her from being a great Girl Scout Leader from her younger years. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Sylvania for 30 years and recently a member of the Red Hat Society.
In her spare time she enjoyed visiting the family cottage in Michigan's U.P. She often went fishing with her husband Al, they creating many memories in doing so. Arlene also loved her iPad and playing computer games, and when she couldn't figure something out on her iPad, she'd give a quick call to her daughter, Connie. One of her most memorable traits was her love for her pets and in general all animals, she gave a home to many over the years.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Alfred "Al" Mizejewski; daughter, Connie (Mark) Zielinski; grandchildren, Stephanie and Nathan Zielinski; twin brothers, Walter (Janet) Sroczynski and Tom (Ruth) Sroczynski; brother, Floriane "Chuck" (Gloria) Sroczynski and brother in law, George Kraus and brother and sister in law, Don (Kathy) Dragon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine Kraus.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 2-8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home, Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013 in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish in Sylvania, 5373 Main St. in Sylvania. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
