Ansis U. Tenteris, age 78; After a lengthy illness passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on October 27th, 2013. Ansis was a devoted family man who loved to teach and share his knowledge and experiences with others.
He was born October 19, 1935 in Riga, Latvia, and came to the United States as a teenager. He grew up in Oak Harbor, Ohio and graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1955. He graduated from Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Ohio in 1958 as a mechanical engineer. His first Job out of Case was at Excello in Highland Park, MI. He joined Jobst Institute in 1960 and worked his way up to be Executive Vice President until he retired after 30 years with more than 5 patents. While working at Jobst Institute, he was a volunteer Fireman at the Northwood Fire Department station # 1. His hobbies included flying, where he was a member of the Blue Horizon Flying Club, bowling, and fishing. He took his passion for bowling and bought RCR Lanes on Reynolds and Dorr Street as a family business for 20 years. Finally, after selling RCR Lanes, he enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing on Lake Erie with his son, Ed.
He is survived by his Beloved wife, Helena; his loving children, Anita Tenteris-Noebe (Ronald), Edvins, Sandra Alsup (Pete)and Ingrid Terrebonne (Daniel); his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Alena, and Nichaela; great- grandchildren, Hayley and Ethan; sister, Ilga Anderson, Canada; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews in Canada and Latvia. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his parents Ansis and Johanna; his siblings Zigrida Rabants, Julis Tenteris, Karls Tenteris and Anada Magrics.
The Tenteris family has selected an immediate cremation.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
