Ansel Dean Davidson, age 66, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, July 24th, 2010 at Ann Arbor Veteran's Hospital. He was born January 31st, 1944 to Ansel Dean and Annie Elizabeth (Smart) Davidson in Toledo. Ansel was married to Theresa Lea (Rippel) Davidson, the love of his life for 45 years. He attended the University of Toledo and proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy on the USS Simon Lake for 5 years. Ansel was a member of the American Legion and One Body by the Cross Church. He had a love of many sports, especially baseball, serving as a coach for many years. Ansel was an avid collector of baseball cards and big fan of Nascar. He enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was woodworking or fixing any appliance or car that needed it. In his spare time he loved spending time outside fishing and being on the water. Most importantly, Ansel was a loving husband, father, Papa and friend, cherishing the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his special ways of doing things and his motto "Love will get you through it".
In addition to his parents Ansel was preceded in death by his wife Theresa L. (Rippel) Davidson; son, Patrick Alan Davidson and sister, Betty Geraldine. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Blankenship; Beth (Michael) Matthews; Shawna (Joseph) Elgin and Shannon (Matthew) Browne; grandchildren, Charlene (Steven) Dearth; Jonathan and Haley Matthews; Andrew Davidson; Brandon, Samantha, Colin and Dominik Elgin and Justin and Megan Browne; great grandson, Caleb and 2 great granddaughters on the way; sisters, Verna Mae Swartz; Jeannie (Bernie) Tate; Barbara (Ray) Carmony; Deborah and Joyce Davidson and many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 1-5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 5:00 p.m.
