Anne was recently in the cardiac unit at The Toledo Hospital on the 8th floor. From her bed and through the floor to ceiling window, DeVilbiss High School could be seen clearly in the distance. DeVilbiss was the place where 67 years earlier Anne had performed as a varsity cheerleader. So many years ago, so many life experiences since - married to Harry for 62 years, four children, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, planes, motor homes, winters in Florida, good friends, and countless trips all added to the fabric of her life.
Anne, 85 at the time of her passing, was born July 14, 1927 to Harold and Anne Miehls. After graduating from DeVilbiss, Anne went to work at DuPont, where she met a young worker, Harry Lingo. That's where all the real fun began, and although Harry passed in 2009, Anne was left with wonderful memories, and the love, care, and concern of her family. She was a sweet person, always trying to meet the needs of those around her, always keeping the family on an even keel, always cooking, creating signature dishes enjoyed by generations (especially her bean soup).
Anne was proceeded in death by her husband, Harry, and is survived by her daughters, Lorrie (Joe) Giannetti, Nancy Smith, Amy Lingo and son, Tom (Elizabeth) Lingo; grandchildren, Joseph (Liz) Giannetti, Jeffrey (Ashlee) Giannetti, Chris Stenstrom, Anne Stenstrom, Jesse T. Lingo-Marruquin; great-grandchildren, Maryjane Stenstrom, Isabella Giannetti, Alexandra Giannetti, Will Giannetti; sister, Angie (Herman) Fitzgerald; brother and close friend, Oscar Miehls; brother, Gary (Cookie) Miehls; sisters-in-law, Peggy Busch and Betty Lingo, brothers-in-law, Norm Busch and Richard Lingo; many caring nieces and nephews; and special people, great friends and neighbors who were part of Anne's life: Tom Stenstrom; Bailey, Brooke, and Brittany Rollins; Pete Marruquin; Phyllis VanTassel; Shirley and Roger Moser; Lenora and Tom McIntyre, and their children, JT and Jada, JoAnn; and Tani and Dave.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Road (419.473.0300). A Sharing of Memories will begin in the funeral home Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551, a wonderful organization that ensured that Anne's last days were all they could be – days of comfort and security, days of knowing she was in the right place.
