Anna P. Gifford, age 89, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Heartland of Perrysburg surrounded by loving family. She was born on November 13, 1924 to Arthur and Alice (Preston) Thomas in Toledo. Anna worked at Lamson's Department Store as a manager in Ladies Shoe Sales for 17 years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Mayfair Plymouth Church, Ladies Auxiliary Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post 587 and Dendarah Court #10 L.O.S.N.A. Anna was also a longtime Shaklee Supervisor. She was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Arthur C. Gifford, Jr.; two sisters, Margaret Laas and Bonnie Rogge; and brother, James Thomas. Anna is survived by her brother, William (Peg) Thomas; sons, Douglas (Lily), Lawrence (Sueellen) Gifford and Robert (Jackie) Snyder; grandchildren, Tamara (Dwight), Bridget (Steve), Matthew (Jen), Laura (Jack), Rebecca (Ashish), Todd (Jennifer), Donald (Kathy) and Aaron (Michelle); great-grandchildren, Jessica (Timothy), Kristen, Cameron, Jordan, Aubrey, Miranda, Madison, Ian, Isaiah, Amber and Nathan; great-great-grandchild, Makaylah and one on the way; and many other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Monday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Dendarah #10 Services at 6:30 p.m. and the Ladies Auxiliary Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post 587 Services at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Services will be begin Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Mayfair Plymouth Church, 5253 Bennett Rd., Toledo 43612 with visitation one hour prior in church. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
