Anna Mae Wilder, age 88, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, December 29th, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 21st, 1921 to Cyrus and Anna (Savoie) Bader in Braithwaite, Lousianna. Anna was a 1939 Salutatorian Graduate of Central Catholic High School. Anna entered college at a latter age, graduating from the University of Toledo with High Honors and a Degree in Education. She began teaching at St. Agnes School, teaching Math and Music until she retired in 1983. Anna was a wonderful teacher and recalled many fond memories of her students and the many musicals she was so instrumental in directing over the years. Anna also enjoyed reading, intricate needlepoint projects and sewing, creating many beautiful outfits for her daughters, as well as their "Barbie's". She and her late husband John loved to travel cross country in their motor home, especially the travels to Alaska visiting family. Most importantly, Anna treasured the time she was able to be with her family.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, John H. Wilder, a retired Toledo Fireman; infant son, John Joseph Wilder and sister, Joyce Marie DeBoer. She is survived by her loving children, Janet (Bill) Spear of Ketchikan, Alaska; Joyce Ann (Bill) Van Deman of Monticello, IN; John (Debra) Wilder; Jennifer (Gilbert) Evans; Julie (Michael) Orosz and Jeannine Wilder. Also surviving are many devoted grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Friday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300), where there will be a "Sharing of Memories" at 6:00 p.m. and a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 6149 Hill Ave. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Mass to remember Anna.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially, Suzanne, Jenny and Natalie for the loving care and support they showed to Anna.
