Anna Margareta Cassavar
June 3, 1929 — May 8, 2023
Anna M. Cassavar, age 93, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2023, at The Toledo Hospital. Anna was born June 3, 1929, in Mainstockheim, Germany, to the late Leonhard and Dorathea (Körner) Schilling.
Anna graduated high school and started work immediately. She worked as an operator for the American Military, where she met her husband, Albert, and together they had two sons. With a few jobs in between, she lastly worked at Kroger as a cashier, where she enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new faces every day. In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling to places like Alaska and the Mediterranean. A woman of faith, she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Anna enjoyed attending the German American Festival each year in Oregon, Ohio, where she always participated in the activities. She had a special talent in sewing; she made beautiful clothes for her children and grandchildren. Anna had a green thumb when it came to her garden; anything she touched turned out beautiful. She had the most beautiful garden on the street; each flower was tended to with love and looked great. Most of all, Anna was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love, smile, and sassy personality will certainly be missed by all who knew her. This is not goodbye, but we will see you again!
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving son, Bruce (Linda) Cassavar; three beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Karin (John), and Cherie; and brother, Leo Schilling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by her loving husband, Albert E. Cassavar, whom she married on June 18, 1949; son, Ernest Wayne Cassavar; sister, Hedwig West; brother, Fritz Schilling; and companion and special friend, Victor Harrington.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Anna's funeral service will take place on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the funeral home, at 11:00 am. Anna will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park.
