Andrew S. Szymanek

Andrew S. "Andy" Szymanek, age 73, of Toledo, passed away January 16, 2017 at his home. He was born January 28, 1943 in Steubenville, Ohio to the late Walter and Margaret (Cercone) Szymanek.

Andy served his country in the U.S. Army in the 21st Airborne Unit. He was a Conductor and retired from Conrail and Norfolk Southern Railroad for more than 32 years. Andy loved his computer, playing poker and also enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Andy is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis L. Szymanek; children, Kim (Howard) Sedlar, Andy Szymanek, Jr., William (Marilyn) Shepler, David (Renee) Shepler and Christy Shepler; 17 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barbara (John) Mefferd, Theresa Combs; brothers-in-law, Tony and Victor (Ann) Duncan. In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Pringle; sister, JoAnn Kennedy; stepson, Daniel Shepler and in-laws, Tony and Theresa Duncan.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 2-6:30 p.m. at Springfield Township Hall, 7617 Angola Road, Holland, Ohio.
