Amy Mcquay

January 28, 1969 — December 25, 2020

On Friday, December 25, 2020, Amy Marie McQuay, loving wife and mother received the best Christmas gift by meeting her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanie Caywood; paternal grandfather, Robert D. Caywood; maternal grandparents, Alma and Gene Periot, Timothy and Dorothy McGarry. Amy is survived by her husband Darrin McQuay; daughter, Amelia Grace McQuay; parents, Curtis and Diane Caywood; siblings, Teresa (Dan) Snow, Carrie (Gabe) Nehmer, Jennifer (Mike) Sudeth and Letha Caywood; 10 nieces and nephews; and 4 great nieces and nephews.

Amy was born January 28, 1969 in Toledo, Ohio. In October 1985, Amy received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. This is what shaped the direction of her life, and the beginning of her teaching years. She was a faithful member of Hope Baptist Church for over 30 years, and there she taught children in various ministries and of all ages. She was a consummate storyteller and could get any child to quietly sit at rapt attention as she taught. Any child that was ever in her class, will remember her "three rules." Her inspiration in working with children was Amy Carmichael, missionary to India. "You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving."-Amy Carmichael.

According to her nieces and nephews, she was "one of the best family cooks." Amy also wrote poetry and short stories. One story won a contest and is currently displayed at the University of Phoenix. Until her last days, Amy talked about her love for the Lord and her family. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 2:16, "Holding forth the Word of Life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain."
Friends may gather from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Hope Baptist Church; 6250 South Ave, Toledo, OH 43615. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00pm with Pastor Jonathan Marshall officiating. Procession to Toledo Memorial park will follow for burial.
