God must have needed another angel, as Amy was granted her wings on August 16, 2009. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Amy had profoundly touched in her memorable life.
Amy was born March 25th, 1959 in Toledo, OH to the late Frederick and Betty (Jackson) Burgess. She graduated from Devilbiss High School in 1976 – one year ahead of schedule and attended the University of Toledo. She was employed at Owens Illinois for thirty years and worked there as an International Accounting Manager.
Amy welcomed any opportunity to be outside and in the wilderness; and she enjoyed camping and golf. She always found something positive in others and in every situation, she never considered anything else. She always placed the needs of others ahead of her own.
Amy is survived by her loving and devoted husband Stephen R. Murphy, stepdaughter Sarah Murphy, very special mother Rose Ann (Vrablic) Burgess, sister Julie (Douglas) Mattson, niece Bethany and nephews Daniel and Jeffrey Mattson all of Manasquan, NJ. Amy also shared a very close and special relationship with nephew Luke Murphy.
At Amy's request, no service will be held, however donations in her memory may be made to The First Apostolic Church 5701 Sylvania Avenue Toledo, OH 43623
The family offers heartfelt thanks to Amy's friends and colleagues for their continued support and compassion through these difficult times; and it is with the deepest gratitude and appreciation that the family offers thanks to the caring and compassionate staff of Ebeid Hospice Residence of Sylvania. These sensitive and supportive professionals allowed Amy's transition to occur peacefully, comfortably and with dignity and respect.
