Amos G. Clay, Sr. age 81, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home. He was born on December 5, 1934 to Alexander and Lottie in Roxboro, North Carolina. Amos graduated from Person County High School in 1952. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a tank driver. He returned to Toledo and graduated in 1972 from Mary Manse College. He received his Master's Degree from the University of Toledo in 1976.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 10 siblings. Amos is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley J. Clay; son, Amos G. "Randy" (Lisa) Clay, Jr.; granddaughters, Elizabeth Jean, Sydney Jean and Virginia (Marcus); grandson, Alexander; great-grandchildren, Joseph and Raya; sister, Virginia Williams, of Auburn, AL; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
