Amalia "Molly" Jasion, age 95, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Friday, August 18, 2023 at Mercy St. Anne's Hospital. She was born on January 5, 1928 to Josef and Josefa (Tscherne) Brinskelle in Kocevje, Slovenia the former Gottschee in Yugoslavia and immigrated from Austria in 1950. On May 25, 1957 she married Walter Jasion. Amalia was a homemaker but also worked in various positions outside the home including being a caregiver and an excellent seamstress. She was a talented cook and baker; making specialty Austrian pastries, cookies and cakes. Amalia was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church and was very strong in her faith. She loved gardening both flowers and vegetables with her husband Walter. Amalia's greatest passion was her family and caring for others. She always put others first and was kind to everyone she met. Amalia's smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Walter Jasion on July 23, 2023; brother, Josef Brinskelle; sisters, Maria Straube and Frieda Recknagel; and nephew, Chris Straube. Left to cherish Amalia's memory are her loving children, Adele Jasion and Joseph Jasion; nephews and nieces, George (Beth) Recknagel, John (Mary) Recknagel, Joe (Nancy) Recknagel, Werner (Lori) Straube, Nancy Shnider and Shelley Straube; and many other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Prayers beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH 43623. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
