Amalia G. Soto, age 80, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Toledo Hospital. She was born on July 21, 1934 to Jesus and Angelina Garza in Laredo, Texas. Amalia enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, camping, music, the theatre and going to the casino. She always looked forward to traveling to visit her siblings. Amalia loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jesus, Jr. and Guadalupe Garza. Amalia is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Domingo Soto; children, Maria (Robert) Edwards, Ricardo (Angelina) Soto, Hilda (Bruce) Jarvis, Luis (Patricia) Soto, Marcos Soto and Cristoval (Shane) Soto; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sister, Maria (Alberto) Dominguez; brother, Alonzo Garza; and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Monday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Prayers will begin Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 738 S. St. Clair St., Toledo, Ohio 43609.
