Alvin S. "Al" Hall, age 92, of Toledo passed peacefully away Wednesday, March 5, at home. He was born on April 27th, 1921 to Ira and Lella Mae Hall in Toledo. Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, who he loved dearly, and told her everyday how much he loved her. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country proudly in WWII and the Korean conflict. Al enjoyed sharing his Navy experiences with all. He worked at Ohio Bell as an Engineering Assistant for over 40 years before retiring. Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid stamp collector, with a love of music, his favorite singer was Nat King Cole, and he never missed the weekly Lawrence Welk TV Show.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert "Bob" Hall, and sisters, Virginia Bray and Shirley Solly. Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Henrietta Hall, son James (Debbie) Hall; Daughter, Karen (Jim) Mears; grandchildren, Christopher and Brittany, and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park, with full military honors being rendered.
