Alvin E. "Al" Klingbeil, age 95, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born April 30, 1922 to Edward and Ida (Fredrick) Klingbeil in Martin, Ohio. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Sgt/T4, serving in WWII as a radio operator with the 104th Timberwolves 3rd BN, 414th Anti-Tank (Europe). He retired from the Spicer Corp. after 43 years of service as a Forklift Operator. Al was an avid bowler, ball player, enjoyed gardening, and traveling with the love of his wife, Eileen. He was a die-hard Cleveland sports fanatic. Most of all, Al loved the time spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Eileen; and siblings, Irvin, Raymond, Erma and Marian Klingbeil. Al is survived by his loving children, Kathy (Tim) MacGregor and Ken (Regina) Klingbeil; grandchildren, Kim Marie, Sally, Toni, Joni, Phil, Dane and Jeffery; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 20 nieces and nephews; and dear friend and aide, WillieMae Mathews.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
