Alton J. Eckhardt, Jr.

Alton J. "Archie" Eckhardt, Jr., age 78, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, January 28th, 2010. He was born June 27th, 1931 to Alton and Ruth (Bailey) Eckhardt in Toledo, Ohio. Archie was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving his country proudly. He was a postal carrier for the United States Post Office in Toledo and later in Sun City, Arizona for many years, retiring October 3rd, 1992. Archie was a longtime member of the Sylvania Moose Lodge. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Mona by way of their motor home to Sun City, Arizona and Florida, where they spent the winter months golfing and enjoying the warm weather. Archie was a loving father and grandfather and cherished the time he was able to spend with his family.

In addition to his parents, Archie was preceded in death his loving wife of 57 years, Mona M. (Johnson) Eckhardt and daughter, Regina Carpenter. He is survived by his son, Alton J. "Jim" Eckhardt; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beulah Newman; Alice Guy and Regina Cook; longtime friends, Tom & Flossie Townsend and companion, Brenda Delgado.

The family will receive guests Sunday from 1-5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
