Allen Wayne Smith Sr.

Allen Wayne Smith, Sr. born on September 26, 1948, in Helena, AK, to Renzy and Effie Smith, passed away on February 4, 2025, at The Toledo Hospital. He attended Scott High School of the Toledo Public School system until he entered the Army in 1967. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in May of 1971. Allen was baptized in 1963 by Reverend C.T. Rucker at Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church. Allen worked a variety of jobs including Chrysler, Boys & Girls Club and as an assistant to auctioneers. Allen enjoyed a variety of things including cards, chess, bridge, bowling and table tennis competitions and thought he was proficient in ALL things! He especially thought he was a card shark.

 He was a cherished father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather whose vibrant personality and competitive spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Renzy and Effie Smith, and his sisters, Myra Smith and Regina Lewis. His legacy continues through the warmth and love of those he leaves behind his beloved children, Allen (DeVona) Smith Jr., Anthony Smith, and Ashley Smith. His siblings, Jetta Packer, Ruth Williams, Phyllis Latimer, Ramelle Smith, Alphonse (Yolanda) Smith, Iris Smith, and Effie Tucker-Chandler; along with 13 grandchildren Chyna, Valencia, Nasia, Kym, Kci, Jordan, Na’Teasha, Ah’King, Ariah, Shonessy, Mikenzie, Amaree, Micheal and 6 great-grandchildren. Dear friends Mattie, Romelle, Cleo, Booker T. and other numerous friends and family.

 He gave his life to back Christ and has now gone to be with his Lord and Savior. Safe journey home we will miss you until we meet again. 

Visitation will be held on February 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. Burial will follow in the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
