Alice W. Buenning

Alice Buenning, age 88, passed away unexpected Thursday, November 7, 2012, at Flower Hospital. She was born in Nordenham, Germany on May 10, 1924. Alice and her family immigrated to the United States fifty years ago and lived in Toledo most of that time. Alice enjoyed exploring the world traveling to Europe, South America, Polynesia and many cruises to exotic locations.

Alice is survived by her two daughters, Rita Kristiansen and Inge Buenning; one granddaughter, Jennifer Heilmaier and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Amelie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Guenther Buenning, who passed away in 2006.

Alice and Guenther were active members of the GBU, volunteering for many activities and functions. Alice loved to write cards and letters, in both English and German to her far flung family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express sympathy are asked to consider donating to their charity of choice.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
