Alice Mae Mills

Alice M. Mills, age 95, of Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Genesis Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 6, 1920 to George Christie and Johanna (VanHaste) Mills in Toledo. Alice started her career in the church ministry, attending and graduating from Angelus Temple in California as an Ordained Minister, serving under Amy Semple McPherson. Following graduation she co-pastored a church in Flag Staff, AZ and later pastored in Barnesville, OH in the early 1950's. Alice moved back to Toledo to take care of her ailing parents, which is when she started at the American Red Cross. She retired from the American Red Cross in Toledo after many years of service. She was a faithful member of Calvary Bible Chapel. Alice had a soft spot for her neighborhood kitties, she always fed them and gave them a good home. In her younger years she enjoyed paint by numbers, crocheting and attending Bible Study at Calvary Bible Chapel where she maintained her strong faith in God.


Left to cherish her memory are her nieces, Mary Batson, Barbara (David) Keller, Rita (Larry) Mowat, Maryann Yarberry and Martha Sue (Timothy) Ramer; nephews, Frank (Vicki) Grant and Danny (Marilyn) Mills; many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna (Al) Carter and Florence Mills; brother, Frank (Ruth) Mills and nephew, Paul Eugene Grant.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Andy Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
