Alice Louise(Hanna) Strick

Alice (Hanna) Strick, aged 88, died peacefully on September 9, 2013 at Hospice of NW Ohio. Alice was born October 16, 1924, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles B. and Violet E. Hanna.
Alice thoroughly enjoyed camping, bowling and took pride in her lifelong job as a printer. After Alice graduated from Defiance High School she moved to Toledo. She learned to print during WWII at the Rossford Ordinance Depot and continued her printing career in her own home after retiring. She later worked in the floral business until the age of 81.
In 1947, Alice and Stephen Strick were married and quickly started their family. After Stephen's death in 1978, Alice continued being the driving force of her family, instilling strong work ethics among her six children.
In addition to raising their children she always found a little time to help the elderly neighbors, when she wasn't entertaining them. She had a wonderful, witty, sense of humor that amused everyone she knew. Alice was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Toledo. She and her family enjoyed many outings in support of son, Stephen and the Special Olympics.
In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her brother, Bernard "Bud"; sisters, Evelyn, Kate, Lee and Valene. She is survived by her sons, Stephen "Jim" and Joseph "Joe"; daughters, Jeanne (Terry) Lesniewicz, Joanne "Snookie" Viviano, Joyce (Mike) Wambo, Janice (Mark) Miller; grandsons, Jeremy (Karen) Brown and Ryan (Lindsey) Miller; granddaughters, Jennifer (Justin) Clark, Amy (Todd) Arndt, Jodi (John) Hardee and Kelsey Wambo (fiancé Nick Liske); great-grandsons, Alec Brown and Tucker Clark; great-granddaughters, Hanna and Madison Brown and Stella Clark and numerous fun-loving nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4140 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 428 N. Erie St., Toledo. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in Alice's name to the Special Olympics Ohio, 3303 Winchester Pike, Columbus, OH 43232.
