Alice Jean Keigley, dear mother and grandmother, age 91, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on November 18, 2013.
Alice was born on July 7, 1922 in Shelby, Michigan to Charles L. and Algenia S. (McLouth) Flory.
Alice was married on May 18, 1947 to Roscoe W. Keigley. They worked together at the Mt. Pleasant Michigan Regional Center – she as a switchboard operator and then secretary, he as the facility bookkeeper. In 1981 they retired together to Holiday, Florida for the next 20 years, and traveled to Hawaii, Europe, the Canadian Rockies, and across the U.S. In over 64 years together, they were rarely separated until Roscoe's death in January 2012.
Alice was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Order of the Eastern Star, Maumee Extension Homemakers, and Epworth United Methodist Church. She loved to read, enjoyed her large book collection, and collected articles on many different subjects. She also enjoyed baking, spending time with her family, playing cards, and acting in and directing plays with her friends at Swan Creek Retirement Village.
Alice will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren, Randall (Vickie) Keigley and grandson Benjamin of Green Bay, WI, and Blaine (Debbie) Keigley and grandchildren Jessica, Ross, and Ian of Toledo, OH.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Reed Chapel, located on the Swan Creek Retirement Village campus, 5916 Cresthaven Lane, Toledo, OH 43614. Funeral Services will follow in Reed Chapel at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Bob Thomas officiating. Private interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
The family particularly wants to thank the staff of Swan Creek Retirement Village, Christian Home Care, and the Neuro floor at The Toledo Hospital for their care and support.
