Alfred "Al" Moore, age 91, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born on November 28, 1923 to Fred and Beulah (Barber) Moore in Southport, North Carolina. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country proudly in WWII. He was employed as a Cook Steward for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer's on the Dredge Hoffman ship.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Alfred Moore, Jr.; siblings, Emma Jane Wilson, Beulah M. Swain, Annie L. Gross and Mary I. Anderson; son-in-law, James Felton.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories, loving wife of 50 years, Lucille; children, Gary Moore, Veronica Langston, Andy (Rachelle) Gable, Bernetta McClain and Vivian Felton; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five nieces, Janice Lee Jackson Davis of Southport, NC, Isabelle Anderson also of Southport, NC, Bettejean Anderson of Wilmington, NC, Althea A. (Anthony) McMillian of Winnabow, NC, Rebecca A. Clemmons of Boiling Springs Lake, NC; one nephew, Howard (Sonny) Wilson, Jr. of Washington State; a host of great nieces and nephews, far too many to name.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Friends may meet the family for Graveside Services on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Forest Cemetery. Please meet at the front gates of the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. (On Mulberry St.)
