Alfred J. Mizejewski, age 82, of Ottawa Lake, MI, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania. He was born on May 6, 1934 to Alfred and Helen Mizejewski in Toledo. Alfred was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed with Owens Illinois for over 20 years and then went on to work at Ampoint for 12 years before retiring. Alfred was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church in Sylvania.
In his spare time, Alfred enjoyed going to the family cottage in Michigan's U.P. He often went fishing, boating and created many memories. When he was home he was an avid vegetable gardener, photographer and loved listening to music, especially polish music on Sunday mornings. Most of all, Alfred was a jack of all trades, he could fix anything and helped family out of many jams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Arlene; brother-in-law, Don Dragon; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Kraus. Alfred is survived by loving daughter, Connie and son-in-law, Mark Zielinski; grandchildren, Stephanie and Nathan Zielinski; and sister, Katherine Dragon.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A Prayer Service will begin on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St., Sylvania, OH. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
