Alfred F. Ulrich, 86, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2014. He was born on November 9, 1927 to the late Otto and Elisabeth Ulrich in Rathsdamnitz, Germany.
Alfred retired from the former City Machine Tool and Die Company in Toledo after 26 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Alfred was a member of G.B.U., G.A.F. Society of Retirees, Schuetzenverein Shooting Club and a charter member of the first German American Festival. His passion was playing cards at the Oak Shade Grove and with his sons and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by two brothers, Willi Ulrich and Erwin Ulrich and sister, Annemarie Schubert, all from Germany. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Magdalena; sons, Gerry (Jane) Ulrich, of Sidney, OH and Fred (Lisa) Ulrich, of Sylvania, OH; sister, Ruth Dunkel, of Germany; grandchildren, Chris, Scott, Gayle, Matthew, Jason, Bryan and Amber and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, January 28 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
