Albert "Gordon" Gatter, age 83, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, where he was surrounded by his family. He was the 4th son born to Arthur and Caroline Gatter. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and received an Honorary Discharge from the military. Gordon was known to his co-workers as "Al or Albert," but to family and friends, he was known as, "Gordon." He retired from AP Auto Parts in 1992 after many years of service.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arty, Charles and Leroy; sister, Evelyn "Jenny" Sutton; three wives, Betty Jo Spencer (mother to his daughter, Pamela Clay), Elinor Synkowsky and Mary Heckle.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Pamela (Rick) Clay; grandchildren, Melissa Jennings and Eric Zamarra; great-grandchildren, Christian Lucas, Jake Jennings, CeCe Jennings and Dominic Zamarra; three sisters, Doreen (Ed) Lutz, Nancy (John) Hilkens and Carol (Norbert) Uhlman.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
