Albert C. Thomas, age 93, passed to eternal life on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Albert was born to the late John and Wanda Thomas on February 18, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio. Albert was a WWII US Army Veteran in the 99th Infantry who defended our country at the Battle of the Bulge, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He proudly went on the Honor Flight in 2010. Albert (known as Blackie to co-workers) worked for Kuhlman Builders Brick & Supply Company as an operating engineer for 38 years, retiring in 1987.
He spent many years traveling in his motor home with his family throughout the United States. He enjoyed snowmobiling in northern Michigan; boating and fishing on Lake Erie; and summers in Port Clinton.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings Jacob Thomas and Genevieve Wisniewski. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Virginia (Wilhelm) Thomas; their children Rebecca (Gerald) Holmes, Gary (friend Angie) Thomas, and James (Claudia) Thomas. Also surviving are grandchildren Jerry (Becky) Holmes; Heather Elliott; Todd (Rachael), Ryan, and Kelly Thomas; great grandchildren Hadley, Carter, Ethan, and Charlotte; brother-in-law Red Hardt, sister-in-law June Thomas, and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive guests from 2-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd. The final resting place will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
