Abraham John Mussery

John Mussery, passed away on April 6, 2025, at Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 5, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, and led a life characterized by service, devotion to family, and a passion for his interests.

A proud veteran, John served in the United States Army during the Korean War before pursuing a career in law enforcement. His commitment to protecting and serving his community was unwavering.

John was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School, class of 1951. He married his beloved wife, Jayne Mussery, in Toledo on April 11, 1998. Together, they formed their blended family that included his daughter, Debra (Bob) Stevens, and his sons, John Mussery and Dennis (Cindy). John also embraced the roles of stepfather to Lisa (Jeff) Rhees, Lana (Mike) Shiree, and Edward (Heidi) Fry, and he was a beloved grandfather to his grandchildren: April, Kelly, Dan, Brandy, Jason, John, and Brent. In addition to this, he was a proud great-grandfather to 21 great-grandchildren and a loving step-grandfather to eight step-grandchildren.

As a member of Heritage Church of God and the Fraternal Order of Police, John's faith and commitment to brotherhood were paramount in his life. He enjoyed airplanes and shooting pool, pursuits that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. John loved spending time with his family and was always up for their next adventures together.

John is preceded in death by his father, John Mussery; mother, Mary Mussery; son, Dennis Mussery; sister, Julia Mussery; and brother, Paul Mussery.

Visitation will take place on April 9, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 3655 King Rd, Toledo, Ohio, 43617. The funeral service will be held the following day, April 10, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM, and burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
