Jennifer Anne "Jen" (Braithwaite) Smithers

Jennifer Anne, (Braithwaite) Smithers, Age 45 of Toledo, passed away Monday July 1, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was surrounded by loving family and friends.
Jen was Born on March 15, 1979, to Mike and Joni Braithwaite. Always kind, even as a young girl, Jenny helped entertain and shared her toys with the many daycare kids mom had watched. She loved camping, boating, vacations, but most of all music. In high school, she sang in the Bedford Choir and to this day, loved to sing harmonies with her young daughters Kylie and Vivienne. A newly acquired joy was watching her young stepson Scotty, play hockey with the Toledo Cherokee and other teams. With the kid’s school activities, (band, cheerleading, track, school plays and so on…) Jen was a very busy mom and, with the support of her loving husband Scott, enjoyed every moment of it!
Jen has maintained many friendships from her childhood. New ones into adulthood extended even to the workplace. Employed at the Stapleton Insurance company as a benefits coordinator, she experienced an outpouring of love and support from her coworkers when she became ill. We all feel blessed for their support.
Left to cherish Jen’s life and memory are her children: Kylie Edwards, Vivienne Edwards, and Scott Smithers; husband: Scott Smithers; siblings: Rob and Theresa, (Hartka) Braithwaite; niece: Koneta Braithwaite; parents: Mike and Joni, (Ostrosky) Braithwaite; pets: Daisy, Mallory and Glinda.
Among the many of her family and friends awaiting Jen's arrival in Heaven with open arms are her grandma Kay and grandpa Bob Braithwaite, grandma Dorothy and grandpa Dick Ostrosky, uncle Ron Braithwaite, and nephew Cooper Braithwaite.

The family will receive guests, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, OH 43623. (419-473-0300) on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Services will begin Thursday at 4:00 pm. at Newcomer Funeral Home.
