It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved Ed "Butch" Cousino on Monday, January 22, 2024 after a brief illness. He was 78.
Ed was born in Toledo, Ohio May 13, 1945 to the late Homer and Geraldine (Tompkins) Cousino, and was one of 7 siblings. He graduated from Libby High School in 1964, and served his country proudly in the Ohio Army National Guard. He went on to work for Dana-Eaton Corporation and Toth, retiring after many years in 2001.
"The Mayor," as he was fondly nicknamed, never did retire from fixing up and helping out any and all neighbors, friends and family. Armed with any kind of trinket from his arsenal of treasures, he would be the first at your door to help out with any and all projects. If you were in his vicinity, you were no stranger, as Butch had a knack for making new friends feel like family. He could also be found fishing and boating with his bride, kids and grandkids, enjoying life fully at the Lost Peninsula Marina for 30 plus years.
Left to treasure those sweet memories are his wife of 35 years, Ethel (Ball) Cousino; sister, Darlene Batdorf; brother, Ron Cousino; children, Dawn Cousino, Kevin (Serena) Cousino, Craig Cousino, Brad Cousino, Michael (Therese) Miclot, and Annette (Ben) Salpietro; grandkids, Vanessa Elmore, Nicholas Kornasiewicz, Colin Miclot, Grace Miclot, Roman Cousino, and Maximus Kornasiewicz; great-granddaughter, Ellie; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger Fling, Leonard Cousino, Terry Cousino; sister, Bonnie Durham; and brother-in-law ,Jim Batdorf.
The family wishes to thank the team of wonderful people at Flower Hospital who cared for Ed and his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Cherry Street Mission and the Northwest Ohio Food Bank.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Newcomer Funeral Home - West Sylvania Chapel (419-392-9500), 3655 King Rd, Toledo.
