John H. Osten

In loving memory of our dad, John Osten, who passed away on January 7,2024. For 49 years, he was the devoted husband of Kathryn, and loving father of Heather (Michael) James, Brandi (Steve) Hahn, and Michelle (Andy) Cline. He was the proud Gampy to Hunter (Macy) Kuhlman, Mason Baum, Michael Rodgers, Talia Baum, Reed Hahn, Cole and Evelyn Cline. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nancy Osten, his brother Richard and his sister Joan. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

One of the kindest souls on this planet, our dad was a giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with quiet strength and courage. Dad cared for and protected mom until his last moments.

A true man of his time, he loved to tell stories of his young life and experiences. He shared innumerable teaching moments with his grandchildren as well as his famous Friday night lecture series with us.
Early in life, our dad knew the importance of hard work as he began working as a young teen in sporting goods where he made many lifelong friendships. After more than 25 years, dad retired from The Image Group, but stayed around to help out where he could.

He was known and loved by so many people through his work life as well as playing tennis, softball, basketball, golf, and bowling. Though he ended his athletic career in his sixties, his softball group of guys were always a part of the family.
Our dad was a true role model who we will always look up to.

Dad, you are now at peace but you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
The family will receive guests Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in John's memory.
