Marc A. Hunter

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Marc Hunter, our beloved son, big brother, uncle, and friend, who tragically left us at the age of 53. Marc's departure leaves an indelible void in our lives, as we remember the gentle soul, helping hand, and extraordinary presence he brought to all who crossed his path.

Marc Aaron Hunter, born January 18th, 1970 in Toledo, Ohio, is survived by his parents, Philip and Susan (Heinl) Hunter, brother Greg (Yeona), brother Derek (Danielle), sister Jennifer Tracey (Sean) and his adoring nieces (Anna, Isabel, Tess, & Tressa), nephews (Declan, Evan, Simon, & Shae), aunts, uncles, 50+ first cousins, and countless friends.

Marc attended St. Patrick of Heatherdowns for grade school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1988, where he was a 3x All-City soccer honor recipient.

Always an athlete, Marc was a lover of all sports, with soccer and Michigan football being at the forefront. An avid golfer, he particularly relished beating his brothers and father every time they played. He also enjoyed snowboarding and skiing, often venturing into Michigan to explore the slopes.
Marc's love of music and verse will leave a lasting imprint on the soundtrack of our family's lives; "I can't believe the news today… Oh, I can't close my eyes and make it go away…"

He will be remembered for many wonderful things – especially his kind, tender heart, his infectious smile & laugh, and his deep love for others. Marc was funny, caring, always willing to help. This was best exemplified in recent years as his father's health continued to deteriorate and he stepped in to be Sue's biggest supporter. Marc loved hard and cared for others intensely.

While we grieve the loss of Marc, we choose to remember the joy he brought into our lives. Let us celebrate the love he shared, the laughter he ignited, and the enduring impact he had on each and every one of us.

In the face of this tragedy, let us also remember that mental health is a shared responsibility, and may Marc's memory serve as a reminder to reach out, support one another, and break the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at afsp.org in Marc's name, with the hope of fostering awareness and understanding.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5th at St. Joseph Maumee, 104 W. Broadway St. at 11 am. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral at 10 am, with a luncheon to follow the funeral.

Marc, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear. May you find the peace that eluded you in life, and may your journey beyond be as beautiful as the love you shared with us. Rest in peace, Marc.
