David Andrew Latta, 56, born in Napoleon, Ohio, a loving father, husband, brother, and friend, died peacefully surrounded by family on October 31, 2023 (his wife Sarah's Birthday).
Dave will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 30 years, Sarah (Wilcox); his children, Allison and Andrew; his brothers, Michael, Philip, and Peter (Ann); his sister, Kimberly and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and countless friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Susan (Van Poppel) Latta.
Dave was a charismatic, compassionate human and had a way of never being a stranger. He was confident and humble; professional and sweet; serious and playful. He influenced so many people in a positive way. Dave truly embraced his vocation with his big personality as a Funeral Director. He dedicated his life to helping people during their most vulnerable moments.
Dave was an avid outdoorsman, always hunting, golfing, and camping from a very young age. He was a firm believer that being an "outdoorsman" came with responsibility. While he enjoyed the outdoors, he believed in the duty to preserve the natural resource for generations to come.
These qualities made him beloved to his family and friends. Ready to support in an instant, genuine and devoted to a fault, his authenticity was natural and easy. He created a personal connection with everyone he met, each relationship unique and without presumption. He always welcomed his family and friends to come along on his adventures.
Friends are encouraged to attend visitation and funeral with Dave's family to honor and remember him.
Visitation is Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 2-8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd. Toledo, 43617 (419-392-9500). A Mass of Celebration will begin Monday, November 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd, Toledo, with visitation one hour prior.
Per a last request from Dave. Please do not send flowers. As a funeral director, Dave loathed flowers. Please consider a donation to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or a donation to a charity of your choice.
