David A. Hammond

David A. Hammond, age 73, of Toledo, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at Bay Park Community Hospital. He was born on May 3, 1950 to Joseph and Annabelle (Zimmerman) Hammond in Newark, Ohio. David graduated in 1968 from Rogers High School. He had a passion for photography and worked as a photographer throughout his career until retiring. David and his wife Sherry enjoyed attending Indy Car Races, taking cruises and being on the water, especially the beach. He loved computers, his cats and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. He also had a passion for trains, especially steam engines. David had a huge heart, a caring soul and a great sense of humor; he could make anyone laugh. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish David's memory are his loving wife and best friend of a total of 44.5 years, Sherry Hammond; brother, Joseph (Eileen) Hammond; 2 nieces, Julie and Jennifer, and their families; special loving neighbors who were like family, and many other close friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and Family are invited to gather on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo, OH 43617 (419-392-9500) with Memorial Services beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
