Charlene Jewell

Charlene Jewell, age 94, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on October 23, 2023 from complications due to dementia. Charlene was born on September 8,1929 to Harry and Helen Fortman in San Francisco, CA. As a child she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where she attended school and eventually met the love of her life, James, in 1948. Charlene and James were soon married on November 27, 1948. They went on to have three children, Pamela S. Jewell, Kevin "Tommy" Jewell, and Robin W. Sutton. She spent her life loving her family dearly. She loved to bake, play bingo, and go dancing.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Harry Fortman; brothers, William Watson, Harry, Tommy, and Kieth Fortman; sister, Sharon Keifer, her loving husband, James H. Jewell; granddaughter, Jennifer Sutton; and grandson, Jared Schelgel. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pamela Jewell, Kevin (Angie) Jewell and Robin Sutton; grandchildren, Tisha (Zac Issac) Schlegel, Kenneth "KJ" Sutton, Shannon Shumate, Kevin"TJ" Jewell, Hazel Jewell; and great grandkids, Isaiah Schlegel, Savannah Isaac, Frances Isaac, Mathilda Isaac, and Amara Sims. Sister, Jackie Parker; and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo, where a Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 pm. Interment will take place at Auglaize Chapel Cemetery in Oakwood, Ohio on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 11:30 am.
