John J. Hammye

John J. Hammye, age 53, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was born on June 26, 1970 to John V. and Mary Ann (Jones) Hammye in Toledo. John graduated in 1988 from Whitmer High School. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Dallas Cowboys, The Ohio State Buckeyes, Philadelphia Phillies, 76ers and Flyers. John loved bowling taking part on many leagues throughout the years and enjoyed golfing. He had a huge heart, a caregiver to many and would help anyone in need. John looked forward to spending time with his friends and family. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; aunts, Susan Bushroe, Phyllis Hartman, Cheryl Raab, and Terry Auchmuty; and uncle, Larry Jones. Left to cherish John's memory are his loving parents; mother, Mary Ann Hammye; father, John V. (Dena) Hammye; siblings, Steve Hammye, Cindy Hammye, and Jason Montalvo; niece, Demari Montalvo; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
