Samuel Joe Williams

Samuel Joe Williams, age 63, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away September 30, 2023 at St. Anne's Mercy Hospital. Sam was born November 22, 1959, in LaFollette, TN, to the late Thomas and Lucille (Hubbard) Williams.

Sam attended Whitmer High School, where he graduated in 1977. Following graduation, he continued his education at the University of Toledo, where he graduated in 1983 with an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology. He started his career with Suburban Machine & tool and as a small business owner of Independent Door. Sam continued his career with Lucas County and Overhead Door, then finishing his career over 20 years with the City of Toledo as a Millwright and member of the AFSCME Local 7 union.

Sam had a number of hobbies throughout his life which included coaching a variety of youth sports teams, woodworking, and riding his Harley Davidson. His love for riding his motorcycle led to many friendships and he leaves a lasting impression on the riding community. He was a proud member of a local gun club, Great Northern Sportsman Club. He participated in numerous charitable and fundraising events with the riding community and Sportsman Club. Sam was a force who people could depend on. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving children, Brittany (Craig) Nagel of Toledo, OH and Joel (Rikki) Williams of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Nora and Remi Nagel; girlfriend, Kelly Snapp and her children, Addison and Riley all of Toledo, OH; siblings, Shirley (Charles) Laberdee of Monroe, MI, Patricia (Donald) Brown of Toledo, OH, Carolyn Williams and Melinda (Scott) Stradley all of Dayton, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Williams.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Sam's funeral service will take place on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 10:00 am, at the funeral home. Following the service, Sam will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at the Great Northern Sportsman Club located at 6255 Pelton Ln, Ottawa Lake, MI 49267 directly following the services held on Monday October 9, 2023.
