Donna Mae Rapp

Our dear Mother, Donna Mae Rapp, of Lambertville, MI, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born in Saginaw, MI, on February 6, 1933, to Oris and Martha Shipley. Donna was a loving daughter and older sister to Jackie (LeBlanc) and Mary Sue (Walton). She graduated from Waite High School in 1951, then went on to marry the love of her life, John Rapp, on October 13 of that year before he left to fight in Korea. Five years later they welcomed their first child, Martha Marie Rapp (David Gallup); followed by daughter Kelly Susan Rapp (Steven Willets); and son John William Rapp, Jr. They moved to a wonderful new neighborhood in Lambertville, MI, in 1961, where they raised their family and developed many lifelong friendships.
Throughout the years, Donna had many interests: golfing, playing poker, entertaining, and partying with friends and family. Sunday dinners were a particularly joyful event at her home, and she was a marvelous cook. She was also an avid football fan and enjoyed participating in Fantasy Football. She cherished raising her children and becoming a wonderful grandparent to 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a 9th great-grandchild on the way. She was lovingly known as "Gigi." Donna was also an avid supporter of many Veterans charities.
Donna is survived by her sister Mary Sue Walton; children, grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews; and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Jackie; brother in laws, Ray LeBlanc; and Thomas Walton; as well as many beloved friends and family members.
The family would like to wholeheartedly thank ProMedica Hospice for the excellent care they provided Donna during the short period before her passing. In remembrance, the family asks that you donate to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
The family will receive guests on Monday October 2, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300).
