In Loving Memory of Sandra Kay Cook (July 2, 1957 - August 2, 2023)
Sandra left this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on July 2, 1957, in Beckley, West Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of William and Mildred Honaker. Sandy's journey was defined by the love she shared with her husband, Isaac Wayne Cook, whom she married in July 1973 and moved to Toledo, Ohio. Their bond was one of unwavering devotion until Isaac's passing in 2012, marking the end of a remarkable love story.
As a mother, Sandy raised five children with boundless love and care. Her maternal love extended beyond her own children, as she played a vital role in raising her nephew and niece as her own. Her home was a place of love and warmth, where family and friends were always welcomed with open arms.
Sandy's heart swelled with pride and joy as her family grew through the generations. She found immense happiness in being a grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and later in life, she was blessed with six great-grandchildren, each bringing immeasurable joy to her heart.
In addition to being a devoted family woman, Sandra found pleasure in the simple joys of life. She had a passion for reading and often immersed herself in the captivating worlds of her favorite books. Reality TV, especially "Big Brother," brought excitement to her days, and she loved sharing lively discussions about the show with her family. Shopping was one of her favorite activities, and she found joy browsing just about any store alongside her daughters and granddaughters. She loved showering her family with gifts.
Sandy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne, their son, Isaac, her sisters, parents and other family members. She is survived by her children; Cynthia (Charles), Jeremy (Amanda), Kathleen, and Stacy (Rodger), her grandchildren; Lauren (Justin), Megan (William), Cameron, Taylor, Dustin (Kiersten), Jordan, Zachery, Alex, Chelsey, Christopher, Nellie, Alys and Autumn; great-grandchildren: Kaydance, Isaac, Isaiah, Isabel, Jameson, and Samson; her brother, William (Kim), her nephew, James (Heather) and her niece, Julie. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived and the love she shared. Her radiant smile, caring heart, and love for her family will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of her husband and son, and may her memory continue to bring comfort and inspiration to those who mourn her loss.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home- SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd (419-381-1900), at 10 am on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, with a service at 12p. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe St. at 1 pm, and a luncheon will be held immediately after at Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr. As we say our final goodbyes, may her spirit find eternal peace, and may her memory forever inspire us to be kind and loving to one another.
