Jim graduated from Roy Start High School in 1972. He attended U.E.I trade school in Louisville, KY, after which he traveled out west with his best friend, Archie. On his return to Toledo he got a job at J. C . Penney warehouse where he learned his furniture repair trade and met his wife. He started Wise Furniture Repair and moved to Sylvania, Ohio where they raised their 3 boys. Wise Furniture Repair was a unique sole proprietorship in which he had continued success until his retirement.
In Jim's early years he enjoyed riding his BMW motorcycle, playing music with his band Stingray, and league bowling. He maintained his motorcycle while venturing on cross country trips. Stingray played events around Toledo including the Rib-off. Jim bowled in different leagues where he bowled multiple 300 games. His family enjoyed summers fishing and boating at Big Wolf Lake. Family vacations consisted of chasing fish around various lakes in Michigan and Ohio.
Boy Scouts figured prominently in the boys formative years, which included many campouts, Camp Alaska, Construction City, and Pinewood Derbies. Jim taught his boys the importance of working with their hands and technical maintenance. Jim loved being in the woods with his boys and teaching them life skills.
As Jim neared retirement the boys started families of their own and he had more time to spend with his growing family of grandchildren, which he adored.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
