It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerome Mitchell who departed on April 17, 2023, at ProMedica Rehabilitation Nursing Home.
Jerome was born on November 12, 1955, in Toledo, Ohio to his Loving Parents Junius Albert and Mary Louise Mitchell. Jerome was lovingly known to family and friends as "Jerry." He was quiet, had a calm demeanor and pleasant to everyone he met. He graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School, 1974, with an Automotive Mechanics' Trade under his belt. He started his career at Quimby Forklift Company. He worked for Kwik Parking lot which he loved because he could drive all the different kinds of cars. He would later work as a Diesel Mechanic at Roadway Trucking Company, TA trucking Company, Falcon Trucking Company and Swift Trucking Company and later retired.
Jerry was fascinated with Cars and racing from a young age learning techniques from his father, uncles and cousins.
Jerry had a love for music and all the latest hits growing up. He learned to play the guitar as a youngster alongside his cousin and beloved uncle leading the way. Jerry would later become a DJ at Scotties Lounge in the 1980's.
In early 2000's, Jerry accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and embarked on a journey serving the Lord. Whenever you ran into Jerry or crossed his path, he would hand you a track on salvation or a book on healing and say, "read this." When he saw you again he would say, "did you read that book?" Jerry was proceeded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Denise Mitchell who he loved and adored. His only daughter, Tina Marie Mitchell, two stepsons, Dorian and Jason Woodard, and other children he natured, Pernell, Xavier and Angelia; siblings, his brother, Jeffrey Mitchell and sister, Regina Mitchell Thomas (Troy) and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive guests Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
