Jane A. Meyer, resident of Toledo, OH, passed away April 11, 2023. Daughter of the late Louis and Cora (Day) Mennitt. Beloved wife of the late Richard Meyer. Cherished mother of Linda (the late Charles) Newton, Steven (Patricia) Meyer, Debra Braun, Laura Meyer, Douglas (Patricia) Meyer, Joseph (Linda) Meyer, and the late Sandra (still living, Noel) Bush and infant son, Richard Meyer II. Adored grandmother of 21, great-grandmother of 40 and great great-grandmother of 3. Sister of the late Jack (Eileen) Mennitt, Eileen (Charles) Nusbaum, and Donald (Marion) Mennitt.
Jane was born on March 18, 1925 in Toledo, OH. Her dream as a child was to be married and have children. It started to come true when she was a freshman at Central Catholic High School and met Richard, a sophomore. They became high school sweethearts. Jane and Richard married when he returned from a three-year stint with the Navy during WWII. Having children was a very important part of her life. She loved playing euchre and canasta with anyone who would join her. Jane was very proud of her Irish heritage. She had a soft spot for the dogs in her life, especially one from her childhood, named "Ragsy". Jane also enjoyed taking strolls in her garden and singing songs to her family, believing, "there's a song for everything." She was a woman of great faith, loving her Lord, Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed by her large family and many friends.
A visitation will be held on April 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Chapel 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614. A funeral service for Jane will take place immediately following at 12:00 p.m. also at Newcomer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to Heartbeat Care Center of Toledo in Jane's honor.
