We regretfully announce that Jason James Bishop, 48, passed away at home Feb. 10, 2023. Jason was preceded in death by his father, James Bishop and mother, Cynthia Bishop and many beloved cats.
Born in Toledo, Jason was a Start High School graduate (1992). After many years of working in design with Bruce Havers Co., he pursued his love of cooking, where his skills as a sous chef contributed to the success of many Toledo restaurants. In 2016 he and Emily, his wife of 24 years, remodeled and opened Bozo's Bar and Grille on Eleanor Ave. in Toledo, living out his lifelong dream of owning a restaurant.
Son of late Toledo Jazz Pianist Jim Bishop, Jason was also a musician and supported Toledo's local musicians and music scene. Along with being a devoted sports fan, Jason also loved horse racing. His favorite place to vacation was Saratoga Springs, New York, following a tradition that began in childhood with his parents and continued with Emily.
Jason will be deeply missed for his infectious energy, clever dry humor, intellect and warmth.
He is survived by his wife Emily (Perron); sister Jennifer (Bishop) Churchill; beloved aunt, Pam Havers; many aunts, uncles, nephew and cousins, who loved him very much, and cat/companion, Leon.
A celebration of Life will be held in the summer. More details to be announced.
