Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Darlene Diane Dick, age 69, of Osseo, MI passed away November 8, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Darlene was born August 4, 1953 in Ann Arbor, MI to Ralph and Delia Austin.
Darlene grew up in Ypsilanti and was exceptionally close to her sister Evelyn and her nieces and nephews. Darlene was a brilliant woman, graduating in the top of her class at Ann Arbor Huron before attending Eastern Michigan University for undergraduate where she met her husband Steven. She would eventually continue on to complete two Master's degrees. Later, Darlene would share this love of knowledge with her children and also with her students as a teacher at Ida High School.
Darlene was raised in the church and was a dedicated servant of Christ throughout her life. She loved to be active in the church. She had an angelic voice and found great joy being a part of the choir. Oftentimes, people would approach Darlene following services because her voice was so beautiful.
In later years, Darlene found joy in exploring the beauty of the US, traveling with her husband of 47 years and her beloved dogs that were always by her side.
Darlene and Steven have four wonderful children and five grandchildren. Darlene loved being a mother more than anything in the world, and was equally excited to be a grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family, and she will be forever missed by them.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was also preceded in death by her siblings, Evelyn, Jeannie, Donnie, and Ronnie. She is survived by her loving husband, Steven, children, Jason (Emily) Dick, Jennifer (Mike) Behan, Joseph (Brian Auten) Austin, and Joshua (Haley) Dick; grandchildren, Rhyan, Jordyn, Brenden, Bryce, and Raegen; brother, Burton, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The family will receive guests Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road (419-392-9500). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
