Diane Smith, 72, sadly left us on October 24, 2022 at Ebeid Hospice Center in Toledo, OH.
Being the only girl with five brothers, she had to be feisty and strong. She told stories about having the best bod in high school, running track, and having a boyfriend that was the #1 basketball player in Toledo… disclaimer, not sure if this is true lol. She was a mother to four beautiful children giving her the strong endurance and determination to earn her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Toledo. She then became a Correctional Officer for Lucas County.
Diane loved Netflix, music and family BBQs/game nights. She was a great movie critic. She could tell you what was good and what wasn't. She always had you watching those foreign love movies where you had to read the subtitles (sigh) lol. Her favorite singer was Stevie Wonder. If you played a Stevie Wonder song it would bring her to her feet with dancing and swaying her hips. Her Sunday visits consisted of bacon, eggs, toast and coffee, with an arrival time of 7am sharp or no food for you lol. She kept her furbaby, Shebastian, with her at all times leaving you to hear "come on Shebastian" a million times for sure.
She was a daughter, sister, aunt, mom, granny and great grandmother. She was proceeded in death by her daughter, Jessica Smith; mother Louise Hamilton and brother, Charles Campbell. She is survived by her brothers, John, Tony, Marcus, Cotrell; children Monica Kyles, Lamont Smith, Lamar (Lashaunta) Smith; grandchildren, Jazzmin, Mariah, Mykayla, Elijah, Korrine, Cheyanne, Jessica, Paris, Marissa, Kira and Rockelle; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family will receive guests Friday, November 4, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Receptions & Funerals-Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd Toledo, OH 43614 (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
