Dennis "Denny" "Pops" Gerald Varnes, age 76, resident of Toledo, Ohio, departed this earth on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 1, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Clyde and Esther (Stevenson) Varnes.
He had worked as a truck driver for Willis Day Mayflower, where he retired in 1984. Denny was a beloved father, grandfather, and uncle; he always made time for his family and loved them dearly. He was a well-known pool shooter and loved playing cards and dancing, and fishing. Denny enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Those left to forever cherish his memory are his two children, Tonya (Gaby) Oaks and Daniel (Meghan) Varnes; step-son, Jeffery Varnes; grandchildren, Brooke, Dalton, Dylan, Tyler, and Dean; great granddaughter, Amelia; sister, Delores (Bud) Norris; brother, Orville "Butch"; his children's mother and friend, Johnnie Oaks-Meyer; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene, Don, Marvin, and Kenny Varnes.
The family would like to thank ProMedica Hospice for being there every step of the way and all the nephews and nieces that came to spend time with him; he enjoyed the visits very much.
