Carl E. Carter

Carl "Gene" Carter, age 78, of Toledo, passed away September 28, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo. He was born January 26, 1944 in Waverly, TN to GW and Dorothy (Dameworth) Carter. Gene was employed at Toledo Edison for 30 years as a Lineman and Underground Electrician. He loved Ohio State Football, camping, playing cards (poker and Texas hold-em), doing body work on his cars and enjoyed playing practical jokes on his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gene was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Carter; daughter, Rhonda Jacobs; and siblings, Pam Carter, Ronnie Carter and Carol Wanaks. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sheila A. Carter; children, Tabitha (Derk) Walker, Steven Carter and Travis Carter; grandchildren, Samantha Walker, Kenny Carter, Jr., Sara Blackford, Nicole (Nick) Salazar, Katrina (Adam) Kwiatkowski, Alisha Parker, Brandon Carter, Heather Carter, Sareena Carter and Joshua Carter; many great-grandchildren; and sisters, Debbie (Gary) Brooks and Connie (Jim) Brown.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Memorial Services will begin Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Gene's memory.
