Douglas S. "Doug" Lewis, age 49, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Friday, November 26, 2021 at the Toledo Hospital with loving family by his side. He was born on May 3, 1972 to Donald and Linda (Moody) Lewis in Toledo. Doug was a graduate of Whitmer High School. Shortly after high school he went on to join the U.S. Marine Corps, serving his country proudly during Desert Storm. Doug joined the Toledo Police Department in December 2000 and was still a proud Toledo Police Officer. He worked in field operations and background investigations. He was an avid football fan, especially of the Michigan Wolverines and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Doug was an amazing dancer, loved music and being the life of the party. He enjoyed riding his Harley and being on the road. He was an excellent cook, loved hunting, camping and being in the outdoors. Doug was very involved in his community and never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor, and a smile that won't be forgotten. Doug's greatest joy was his family, he loved spending time with his sons and entire family. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father. Left to cherish his memory are his loving sons, Carson, Collin, and Ryan; mother, Linda (John) Leichty; sisters, Denise Muszynski, Connie (Bruce) Althouse, and Kelly (John) Foster; fiancé, Donna Abshire; uncle, Joe (Barb) Moody; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
