Richard Szymanski, age 78, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at St. Anne Hospital. He was born on January 7, 1943, to the late Walter and Cecelia (Nowaczyk) Szymanski.
A dedicated family man, he was a devoted husband, father, and papa. Richard's family was his pride and joy. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in 1968. He worked at the Chrysler Machining Plant for almost 35 years, upon his retirement in 2001. In his earlier years he enjoyed running; he would do his Friday run home from his days at Chrysler.
We will always remember our Father and Papa, for his soft spoken and kind spirit. We find comfort in knowing he is reunited with the love of his life. He will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and remain in our hearts forever.
Those to cherish his memory are his furry companion, who he dearly loved, Luna; sons, Jim (Deanna) Szymanski, Craig (Renee) Szymanski, daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Rahe and Lynn Zachrich; grandchildren, Tyler (Emily) Szymanski, Kelsey Szymanski, Courtney Rahe, Kyle Szymanski, Andrew Rahe, Carly Szymanski, Dylan (Heather) Swartz-Zachrich, Lauren Rahe, Madison Zachrich and great grandchildren, Isabella Swartz-Zachrich and Joseph Szymanski; a brother, George Szymanski; and a niece, Jodi Adams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Patricia Ann (Refi) Szymanski; and a sister, Theresa Kinney.
The family will receive guests Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 10:00am – 11:00am, at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo, OH 43613. A funeral Mass will begin Saturday at 11:00 am at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Francis Speier.
If those remembering Richard would like to make a donation in his memory, the family asks they be made to St. Jude's Children Research or St. Catherine Siena, Toledo, Ohio.
