Sharon Lee (Koehler) Barnum, age 75, a lifelong resident of Toledo, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 at University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born July 20, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio to Richard and Eileen (Spencer) Koehler. Sharon attended St. Ursula High School and graduated from Libbey High School, class of '64. She went on to marry and raise two beautiful children. Sharon was a kind and loving person who dedicated her life to helping others, so becoming a CNA and working in local Nursing facilities was something she was destine for. Over the years she cared for 100's of people while at the former Maumee Valley Hospital, treating each patient with dignity, respect and like they were family. Sharon was involved in the health care industry for more than 25 years. She received her CNA training from Lewis Community College of Nursing where she attended with her daughter.
Sharon was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend cherishing the time she was able to spend with her family and friends. In her younger years she enjoyed playing softball and bowling. Sharon will be remembered for always putting others' lives and needs before her own. She was so generous with her time wanting to help others in any way she could. She was often seen donating her last dollar to someone in need. Sharon was a member of St. Catherine Church and enjoyed taking her grandchildren to mass.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Dusznski. Sharon is survived by her loving children David (Kirsten) Barnum and Lisa Barnum; grandchildren, Monica, Anthony and Kiera Barnum and Marissa and Natalia Freeman; great grandchildren, Kinsley and Jaila; brother, Rick (Connie) Koehler; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friend of 60 years, Judy Foley.
The family will receive guests Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 6:00 pm. at the funeral home followed. Officiating will be Pastor Scott Carmen.
