Barbara J. Marquis, 66, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Barb was born March 30, 1954 in Toledo to William and Margarite (Jay) Kelley. On January 27, 1973 Barb married the love of her life, Doug Marquis, in Toledo at Immaculate Conception Church.
Before retiring from Immaculate Conception Church in 2019 she worked at The Bridge Cafe, where she made many lifelong friends, and was always up for a cribbage game. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo, slot machines, cards, poker, going out to dinner, and traveling. Barb loved water and being in the sunshine. She shared a love of music with her husband, family and friends. Her greatest treasure was her family and the memories she made with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws; sister, Kay; brother-in-laws, Wally, Timothy, and Kenny; sister-in-law, Sharon; nieces, Tammy and Debbie; and nephews, Gary, Josh, CJ and JJ.
She leaves behind her husband, Douglas, of 47 years; children, Jason (Pam) Marquis and Kelly Marquis; grandchildren, Samantha Marquis, Brandon Santiago, Paige Marquis and Dustin Santiago; great-grandchildren, Jaxson Marquis, Alizzianna Santiago and Carter Marquis; brother, Howard Kelley; sisters, Cheryl (Charles) Cox and Alice Whaley; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, many other friends and family; and lifelong friends, Robin Mantey and Robin Thomas.
The family will receive guests Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). There will be a celebration of life honoring Barb on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 13415 Brindley Rd., Swanton, OH 43558 beginning at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Barbara's memory.
